Day 6 of this adventure....

The whirlpool debridement treatments are becoming more difficult for Evelyn.  The nerves are growing back, so there is more pain.  Ron her PT is having to cut away the dead material from the wound as she cries and cries.  She doesn't even like the whirlpool part anymore.  I'm having to physically hold her hand down in the water.  It's no longer a fun bubbly bath for her hand  (Bill even uploaded the movie "UP" to his iPod so she would have a distraction today.  It didn't work.)

We knew it was going to be hard this week.  And it has.  I was SO looking forward to tomorrow because I thought these treatments would only be through Friday, But Ron told us today that he was pretty sure we would at least have to do Saturday too.  So it's going to be a long weekend before we get to go back on Monday morning to see the surgeon.

So, to get my mind off of what's to come, here are some pictures of happier moments from this past weekend.  We put a big mitten over her bandaged hand, I found an oversized coat for her, and Porter took her out on the deck so she could play in the falling snow:

catchin' snowflakes on her face

wanting to explore

snowball, midflight, heading straight for Porter's face

Porter is THE BEST big brother to this little girl

BEAUTIFUL pictures.
I'm having a problem with my camera, I need to have Bill look and see what he thinks. :)
Love you guys. And I'm glad you got a good laugh at my blockbuster phone call. I should have asked him if his refridgerater was running while I was at it.

Oh Nat, I'm sorry, it's so hard to see your children suffer. Precious little girl.

Natalie, you're still one of the strongest women I know. Please don't torture yourself, as easy as that sounds. Evelyn is beautiful just like her mom, and I'm sure strong and resilient just like her too. You can't let yourself feel guilty because accidents like these just happen with kids. I hope you're feeling better. And we'll remember sweet little Evelyn in our prayers. Please let me know if there is anything we can do for you guys. We love you and your little family!

Natalie, your children are so beautiful. What a great big brother Porter is, and what a marvelous, caring mother you are. I am inspired by you.

I am so sorry you guys have had to go through this. Hang in there! Porter is such a good big brother. Such a good way to get her mind off of everything.

I came here from Cuegly to see the monster socks, and found the posts about your daughter's accident. I pray for a quick recovery for her, and comfort for you.

I am so sorry to hear about Miss Evelyn. Being a mom and having to watch as your sweet child has to endure painful things is SOOOO hard.

I pray that she will recover quickly and that you will have the strength it takes to help her through this process.

I have learned that it is far harder for the mom's than the kids. I know with Avery she cries and hurts but then she is happy and ready for an adventure after a procedure. I on the other hand cry at times and worry and re-live the whole thing over and over.

I love these snow pictures and the one with her brother is just precious!!! What type of camera do you use??
